Homework

We will have weekly homework packets that will taken home on Mondays and will be due on the Friday of each week. The activities will reinforce concepts that we are working on in class. Along with this, a nightly reading log will be attached. Students are expected to read at least 20 minutes every night. With the rigor of our standards, all extra support at home will greatly benefit your child. Throughout the year we will be sending home various intervention and enrichment activities that correlate to our learning. These activities are meant to boost your child’s understanding of the content that they are learning in the classroom. We will also be providing you with login information for Raz-Kids and I-Ready, which are two online resources that are individualized to your child's learning goals. All of these resources are a great way to bring the learning that was done at school home.
Raz-Kids
Raz-Kids provides a variety of comprehension leveled reading resources for students online. There are hundred of e-books at 29 different reading levels, making sure all students are reading the text that best meets their abilities. Students access their leveled reading text through an interactive learning portal designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every e-book is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading. Students then take a corresponding e-quiz complete with an extended answer response to test comprehension and determine future instructional needs. Once a child has read 10 or more of the leveled e-books and passed each of the corresponding e-quizzes, they advance on to the next reading level where they have access to lengthier and more difficult text.
I-Ready
I-Ready is an engaging online K-12 reading and math assessment and instruction program. It starts with an adaptive diagnostic test that identify student's strengths and weaknesses in reading and math. During this assessment, students will answer reading or math questions that will either get easier or harder, depending on how well the student is answering the questions. Student will be put into a level, depending on their current ability, and will complete reading or math activities on their account. Once students master their current level, they will progress to the next level. Teachers can track and monitor student progress.
